TESTING & RE-FIGURING SERVICES

We can test your optics whether they are coated or not. We will provide accurate, honest and reliable interferometric data both before and after. If we cannot improve on the quality of your optic(s) we will tell you. A report with real documentation - interferometry - will always be provided to you whether we just preform testing services or we re-figure your optics.

Please inquire first, our work load at any given time maybe such that we cannot take on any additional work. We will let you know when to send your optic to us so that we can get right to it without it setting in our shop for very long.

The before images (below) represent primary telescope mirrors from companies/individuals who are/were considered professional optical manufactures. These are not "worst case senarios" but what I have been finding as typical. All three optics failed the standard Null test. One would think that this test would be in any optical shop since a null test is the best test for a parabolic mirror. When a primary mirror fails on the null test it fails miserably on the interferometer as you can see. One can only assume that these mirrors were tested using the knife edge tester and tested at Radius using zonial mask readings.

With the costs of raw materials sky-rocketing, refiguring your primary mirror maybe the best cost effective thing you can do to get back out under the stars with a high quality instrument. I will provide you with, both before & after, interferometric images & data. From the "after" images above, you can see that I will make a huge difference in improving your optic. The prices listed on my website are there for example only. I will work with you on an individual basis, the cost will be determined by the exact work that is required.
